National Pie Championships
The American Pie Council dates its National Pie Championships to 1995. The council’s own results pages, recovered from web archives, name a Best of Show winner in the amateur division for 2000 and 2002 to 2019 and in the professional division for 2002 to 2019. The commercial division names no Best of Show; trade coverage reports the company with the most first-place ribbons. No championships are recorded from 2020 to 2022: the council numbers 2019 its 25th and 2023 its 26th. Since 2023 the council has published division results without a Best of Show.
A blank means no source we trust has the name yet, not that nobody won. Names are printed as each source prints them; where sources spell a name differently, the year’s page says so. Category first places, where published, are on each year’s page.
- Amateur Best of Show
- Home bakers. The APC names an amateur Best of Show from among the first-place winners of each flavor category. The APC counts the championships from 1995; the earliest amateur results located are from 2000.
- Professional Best of Show
- Individual bakers and chefs who earn pie-related income. The earliest professional Best of Show located is from 2002; the APC’s 2000 results list only commercial and amateur divisions.
- Commercial, top company
- Pie companies judged by price tier and flavor. The division names no Best of Show; trade coverage reports the company with the most first-place ribbons.
